What are Lead Form Extensions?

Google Ads introduced lead form extensions back in 2019 as a new way for customers to get in contact with business quickly and seamlessly. 

Lead form extensions are a new tool that advertisers can use to generate new business!

Basically, they are eliminating or shortening the number of clicks that a user needs to perform in order to contact a business. 

Traditionally, ads are primarily driving motivated traffic to a landing page that makes it easy for a user to engage with the business. Anyone who is familiar with basic web design knows that having a strong call to action indicating an incentive or service offered, usually alluded to a phone number or a form submission of some sort (contact the business.)

Now, with the introduction of lead form extensions that duration of time is getting a little more narrow since the form itself is actually contained within the ad itself. There is no need to click the ad and continue to the business landing page to fill out the form. It is all in one step with lead form extensions. 

Lead or extensions are actually still in beta testing but Google has full rolled this feature on most accounts nationwide.

Update…

I have had the opportunity to test the lead form extensions during Google’s original beta release of the new product, it was concluded that one of the main issues was tracking of the form submissions. This issue was acknowledged by Google on multiple occasions when I mentioned it during calls with their product team.

The recent update to the lead form extension has now addressed and fixed the issue.

How to use Lead Form Extensions.

The effectiveness and true value of lead form extensions are all in the response time. This is why Google has introduced integration with your CRM system via webhooks!

Webhook integration allows you to automatically send information from one app to another using unique URLs. You can also download the lead form content direct from the Google Ads platform as a CSV file.

With 2020 coming to a close, lead form extensions are a great and useful tool to use on your Google Ads marketing efforts and hold a ton of value for service-based businesses, law firms, and real estate investors.
